Police: Flags From Veterans Graves Stolen And Burned Bensalem police say flags and decorations where snatched from veterans graves and then burned. The incidents occurred at Roosevelt Memorial Park and Rosedale Memorial Park. FOX 29S Dave Kinchen spoke with Michael Purko as he was visiting the grave of his stepdad, a World War II veteran, at Rosedale Memorial Park on Tuesday. Fortunately, his grave was spared by the vandals. However, Purko says it hurts him just the same, especially as an Air Force veteran from the 70s. “Lack of respect for the dead and lack of respect for the living that has to come here and visit their loved ones,” he said. I dont understand what they get out of it, some jollies? Some laughs about it? Its just so totally wrong. Bensalem police say similar destruction was found at Roosevelt Memorial Park Sunday into Monday, and it was hit once before. According to investigators, between 50 to 60 total graves were targeted, including that of an Iraq veteran who died in 2004. We have active troops overseas in hostile areas and to desecrate a flag. That really hurts a lot of people. Whether you have the right to do it or not is not for me to decide but morally I just think its wrong,” said Bensalems Director of Public Safety, Fred Harran. If you have any information, please contact the Bensalem Police Department at (215) 633-3719. ~Anastasia
