Police: Man Used Wire Cutters in Attempted Robbery of Cell Phone Store KING 5 News (Wash.) (07/09/13) Swaby, Natalie Police in Washington state say a 32-year-old man has been jailed for robbery and assault after he allegedly attempted to steal two smartphones from a T-Mobile store in Edmonds on July 8. Police say that the suspect used wire cutters to cut the security cables of two working display phones, which were worth roughly $600. The suspect was tackled to the ground by a T-Mobile employee and two customers, who held the man down until police arrived on scene to arrest the suspect. No one was hurt during the incident. Area police say they have been receiving reports from other cell phone stores about security cables at cell phone stores being cut, but that those reports normally come in "after the fact." T-Mobile issued a statement in response to the incident, saying that it has "extensive security measures and procedures" in place at its stores to protect its customers and employees.
