Police are appealing for information after a man was left shoeless following an armed robbery at Lightning Ridge this morning. About 2am, Saturday 26 July 2014, a 21-year-old man was at a party in Lapkalle Street when he was offered a lift home by two men. During the journey the group stopped at a bank on Morilla Street where the man was forced to withdraw cash from his account. He was then driven out of town and threatened by one of the men who was armed with a handgun. The man stole his bank cards, mobile phone and shoes while also forcing him to disclose his personal identification numbers (PIN). The man then fled in the car leaving the 21-year-old man standing on the side of the road. Detectives from Castlereagh Local Area Command are continuing their investigations into the robbery and have confirmed further cash was withdrawn from the man’s bank account after the robbery. They would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information about the identity and whereabouts of the armed man. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
