Police are appealing for information following an aggravated armed robbery on the Far North Coast overnight. About 9.30pm (Sunday 1 June 2014), a man armed with a machete forced entry into a licensed premises on Rajah Road at Ocean Shores. The man threatened two staff members with the weapon and tied them up, before fleeing the location with cash. No one was injured during the incident. Officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command were contacted and launched an investigation into the incident. Specialist police from the Dog Unit assisted in an extensive search of the surrounding area; however, the man was not found. A crime scene was established and examined by detectives and specialist forensic officers. Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in their investigation. The man is described as having a dark complexion, about 185cm tall and of a solid build. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hooded jumper, dark track pants with white stripes down the sides and a black bandana across his face. Anyone who knows the man’s identity or has any information that could assist police is urged to come forward.
