Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted armed robbery in Panania last night. About 9pm (Thursday 1 May 2014), an attendant, a 56-year-old man, was working in a fast food shop on Tower Street when a man approached the counter. The man demanded cash and threatened the attendant with a knife, when he refused the man ran from the shop. Police were contacted and Bankstown Local Area Command officers attended commencing an investigation. The attendant was not injured during the incident. The man was described to officers as 160cm tall, slim build, wearing a black balaclava, black sunglasses, a yellow jacket, and he was carrying a grey/red plastic bag. Investigators are appealing for anyone that was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or knows anything about the robbery to contact the authorities.
