Police are investigating after a teenager was stabbed outside a party in Merrylands last night. About 11pm (Friday 22 August 2014), emergency services responded to reports of a brawl on Burnett Street. Officers from Holroyd, Parramatta and Rosehill Local Area Commands, with the assistance of the Dog Unit and the Public Order Riot Squad, attended the location. A 17-year-old boy was found with a stab wound to his chest, he was taken to Westmead Hospital where he is in a critical condition. A brawl was in progress and officers have intervened dispersing the crowd. A senior constable was hit on the arm with a bottle and has been taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to an arm injury. Investigators have been told that a party was being held at a hall on an oval at the location. A crime scene has been established and a search of the area has commenced. Inquiries into the matter are continuing and officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, and has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.
