Police foil attempt to rob bank customer of N120,000 •....kill notorious robbery suspect in gun duel IT was a bad day for a notorious armed robbery suspect, on Wednesday at about 10:25 a.m in Warri, Delta State, when he was felled by police bullet while he and his colleagues of six were attempting to dispossess a bank customer of N120,000. The handsome-looking robber, identified as Mr Andrew Isaac, fell to the superior fire power of men of the Nigerian Police, Warri Area Command during a gun duel that ensued. The suspect and six of his colleagues had laid ambush at Ogunu Flyover bridge in Warri to dispossess victims of their hardearned money. On the fateful day, Mr Felicity Oduone, who had just withdrawn N120,000 from IBTC Plc fell victim to men of the underworld who had laid ambush for him. Crime Reports gathered that while the thieves, who had laid siege with two Toyota Camry cars, were carrying out the operation to rob the victim of his money, Oduone, the victim took advantage of a police patrol coincidentally passing by to raise the alarm and he was swiftly attended to leading to his rescue and a shoot-out. The shoot-out led to the death of Isaac while his colleagues fled with one of the Toyota Camry cars believed to have been loaded with arms and ammunition which they use in carrying out their nefarious act. It was gathered that a pandemonium ensued at the scene of the incident as people scampered for safety, while and unconfirmed report has it that one of the fleeing bandits was later apprehended by men of the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army. Parading the remains of Isaac on Wednesday in his office, the Area Commander, ACP Husseini Rabiu, described the notorious armed robbery suspect as a hardened one who was recently given a bail in a Customary Court in case file MW/286/2013 after being arrested for a criminal offence. Isaac’s remains, which were literally dragged out of a police patrol van in the presence of journalists, had on them a pair of Italian shoes, a pair of boxers, a brown pair of trousers and a parking shirt of red, blue and yellow stripes. A group photograph depicting Isaac’s earlier criminal escapade after being arrested by the police was on display for journalists to peruse. Meanwhile, the Police Command in Delta State has confirmed that a youth was killed at Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state after a fracas over an association election. He said a suspect in connection with the Ekpan fracas on Tuesday, known as Mali, who has once been arrested with an AK47 by the state security service was on the run. ACP Rabiu, while speaking on the issue, warned youths in the area to apply dialogue in solving communal skirmishes, adding that a task force would soon be set up to mop up arms and ammunition in the state ahead 2015 general elections.
