Police from Strike Force Lockwood have arrested and charged four more people, following seven arrests last week. Strike Force Lockwood, which is being led by detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, has been investigating the activities of an alleged firearm and drug supply syndicate operating throughout Moree and the greater Newcastle area. Last Thursday (1 May 2014), seven people were arrested throughout the Hunter and Moree, and a further four have been arrested in the past two days (Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 May 2014). Yesterday (Tuesday 6 May 2014), two men were arrested in the state’s north. Shortly after midday, 19-year old man attended Mungindi Police Station where he was arrested and charged with one count of firearm supply, before being conditionally bailed to appear in Mungindi Local Court on 18 June 2014. Three hours later, around 3pm, a 25-year-old man was arrested at a property on Keperra Place, Moree, before being taken to Moree Police Station where he too was charged with one count of firearm supply. Granted conditional bail, he is due to appear in Moree Local Court on 2 June 2014. The arrests of the two men followed the arrests of two women on Monday (5 May 2014). At 11.20am on Monday morning, a 21-year-old woman was arrested on Adelaide Street, Moree, before being taken to Moree Police Station where she was charged with two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug. She was granted conditional bail to appear in Moree Local Court on 2 June 2014. At 12.05pm, a 29-year-old woman attended Moree Police Station where she was arrested and charged with one count of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug. She too was granted conditional bail to appear in Moree Local Court on 2 June 2014. The investigation by Strike Force Lockwood continues.
