Police have arrested two teenage boys after a pursuit overnight east of the city. Just after 3.30am, police spotted a white Nissan sedan on Greenhill Road with two occupants. The car was wanted in connection with the alleged theft of petrol from a service station on Belair Road at Kingswood a short time earlier. Police tried to pull the car over but the driver refused to stop and was pursued onto Glynburn Road and then into several backstreets before the car turned onto Portrush Road where it drove on the wrong side of the road without lights. Police terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns and the car was last seen heading towards the South Eastern Freeway. A number of patrols searched the area and located the car abandoned in the final arrester bed on the down track of the freeway. Police dogs Oscar and Hunter were called in and the two teenagers were found a short distance away hiding in scrub. A 16-year-old boy from Victoria has been charged with driving to escape police, illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving off without payment and carrying an offensive weapon after he was found in possession of a knife at the time of his arrest. His 16-year-old passenger, also from Victoria, has been charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and driving off without payment. Both have been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court later today.
