Police have charged a man after a stabbing in Lithgow on the weekend. About 11pm Saturday 19 July a 52-year-old man was at a home on Calero Street with two women, aged 29 and 41, when he allegedly threatened the women with a meat cleaver and knife. An altercation ensued between the trio, with the man allegedly assaulting the 29-year-old woman. Police have been told the older woman took hold of the knife and meat cleaver, and stabbed the man in the abdomen. Emergency services were called and the older woman drove to Lithgow Police Station where she was arrested. The man was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Lithgow Hospital, before being taken to Westmead Hospital. The 29-year-old woman was released that night pending further inquiries. Yesterday afternoon Monday, the 52-year-old man was released from hospital and was taken to Parramatta Police Station. He was charged with detain for advantage (x2), common assault (x2) and armed with intent to commit indictable offence. He was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court today
