Police have released images of two men they would like to speak to after a man was assaulted on a train while returning home from an NRL match at Homebush on the weekend. About 11:50pm, Saturday 27 September 2014, two men and two women boarded a train at Olympic Park Railway Station in Homebush to travel to Central Railway Station. The four were seated in the vestibule area of the train when two men boarded at Strathfield Railway Station and they all became involved in an argument. During the argument one of the men punched a 48-year-old man in the face several times before he was allegedly held back by another man and punched again. He fought back before other commuters intervened and separated the group as the train approached Central Railway Station. The two men ran from the train and ran down the stairs to the concourse where they were last seen getting onto an escalator and heading towards Chalmers Street. Police were patrolling the station at the time when they were alerted to the incident and went to the injured man’s aid. NSW Ambulance Paramedics were called to the scene and the 48-year-old man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he underwent plastic surgery for a laceration to his lip. He also sustained a broken nose, two black eyes and a laceration to his forehead. Detectives from Sydney City Local Area Command are investigating the assault and have released CCTV images of two men who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries. The first man depicted in the images is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 25-30 years old with a fair complexion, medium/solid build, light brown spiky hair, a cropped beard and a large tattoo on his right arm. He was wearing a solid black coloured Penrith Panthers football jersey, blue jeans and brown shoes. The second man depicted in the images is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 25-30 years old with a medium/solid build, light brown/ginger hair, a ginger cropped beard and a Southern Cross tattoo on his right shoulder. He was wearing a black Penrith Panthers football jersey with white and black horizontal stripes, blue jeans and black thongs.
