Police in Annan are continuing their enquiries to trace an Annan man who has now been missing for a week. IAN CARRUTHERS, aged 30 years was last seen at around 01.30hrs on Friday 17 January in the Longmeadow Avenue area of Annan. The family of Mr Carruthers are extremely concerned about his well being and have appealed for anyone who has any information to contact police. Tracy Kindness, sister of Ian Carruthers said: “It is not like Ian not to be in touch with any of us for this long. He usually contacts my mum every day. His disappearance has brought so much distress to us all and we are very worried about him. “We are anxious for him to call us to make sure he is ok. If anyone has seen him or knows where he is please contact police. Any information at all might help to find him. Chief Inspector Steven Lowther said: “The response from the public in Annan so far has been excellent, however I would like to make a further appeal to trace Ian Carruthers. “Ian has a close group of friends and he has not been in touch with any of them over the past week, which is completely out of character. “He was to look after a friend’s pets and didn’t turn up, which is again not like him. “We have conducted extensive searches in the Annan area over the past few days, the police helicopter has been utilised and teams of Search officers have been drafted into the town to conduct searches of the area and door to door enquiries locally. All of these searches have so far met with a negative result. “Our enquiries will continue into the weekend however we would again ask local people to check their garages, sheds and outbuildings in case Mr Carruthers has taken shelter. There is nothing to suggest that he has left the area but we cannot rule that out. “If you have seen Mr Carruthers since Friday 17th January, 2014, or are aware of his movements around that time, please contact Annan police. “If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact police on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
