Police probe into flashing soca artiste THE soca artiste who is alleged to have dropped his pants and exposed himself to female joggers including a senior female police officer, has agreed to seek counseling following the embarrassing incident which occurred three weeks ago at Palmiste Park, San Fernando. The artiste is said to have made the promise in the presence of a well-known San Fernando businessman who strongly pleaded his (the artiste) case with police, asking that the artiste be spared the public humiliation of criminal charges being laid. However, sources close to the investigation told Newsday the artiste, subsequently refused to keep his promise and seek counselling although sessions were arranged for him and as such, the matter was reopened and an active investigation is underway with the view of bringing a criminal charge. “The counselling sessions were all geared toward his benefit,” a police source said. The incident is said to have occurred on January 2 at the park and was initially being kept quiet in the interest of the artiste who is also a father. “It was not made public to protect his career. All he was asked to do was attend counselling sessions because he clearly has a problem,” the police source said. “It is very disappointing that a person who is looked upon as a role model especially among the nation’s youth did not follow through on a promise. That is the only reason he is now being investigated for what is a serious offence.
