Police searching for gun stolen from McDonalds Posted: Saturday, August 02, 2014 12:25 AM Staff report Paducah police were seeking information regarding a handgun taken Wednesday from a table at McDonalds at 3480 Clarks River Road. According to police, a man called Wednesday evening and reported leaving the firearm on a table. He said when he returned to the restaurant for the gun, it was gone. An investigation determined that a white man wearing a dark shirt and driving a silver or champagne-colored Honda Accord - possibly a 2002-2007 model - may be involved. Police are searching for information regarding the mans identity and the gun. Paducah police posted on their Facebook page Thursday night information about the search, prompting a heated discussion on social media. The majority of comments questioned the judgment of someone who would leave a gun on a table in a public place like a fast food restaurant where children are often present. Certainly, hypothetically, you could consider that to be reckless or wanton conduct, said Graves Commonwealth Attorney David Hargrove. Whether you have a concealed carry permit or not, if you leave a firearm around where a child can get to it - even if it were in your own home - you could be held liable. Anyone with information about the mans identity or the gun is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 443-TELL. We are continuing all aspects of this investigation, but our biggest concern is finding the stolen gun and getting it off the street, Paducah Police Chief Brandon Barnhill said. Anyone with information may also access the online tip form through the city of Paducah website at paducahky.gov/paducah/west-ky-crime-stoppers. Information leading to an arrest or indictment may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
