Police will resume their search for seven bushwalkers, missing from the Blue Mountains area overnight. About 7pm (Sunday 1 June 2014) police were alerted to the situation as the group were due to return at 5pm (Sunday 1 June 2014). The missing bushwalkers, five men and two women aged between 27 and 69, are believed to be missing in Cedar Valley at Katoomba. The organised bushwalking group started walking about 8.30am (Sunday 1 June 2014), and was last seen about 1pm on Narrow Neck Plateau. Blue Mountains Police Rescue commenced a ground search from the Golden Stairs to Ruined Castle. To date there has been no sign of the group. Police are concerned as they don’t believe the group was prepared for an overnight stay and did not have an emergency beacon. The search is due to re-commence at first light this morning and will focus on the Cedar Creek area. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
