Politburo tackles civil servants salaries: The Zanu PF Politburo has resolved that civil servants should receive salaries that are above the poverty datum line. This was said by the Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Rugare Gumbo, shortly after the end of the Politburo meeting held in Harare on Thursday. He said the Zanu PF President and First Secretary, Cde Robert Mugabe stressed that civil servants who have been struggling to make ends meet in the last for years should have salary reviews that enable them to live comfortably. The Politburo meeting also discussed the recently introduced ZIM-ASSET programme which is aimed at improving Zimbabwe’s socio-economic life. Cde Gumbo said the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Cde Patrick Chinamasa is now mobilising funds for the implementation of the ZIM-ASSET programme. The Politburo also discussed the forthcoming annual National People’s Conference to be held from the 10th to the 14th of next month in Chinhoyi. The conference theme is: ‘ZIM-ASSET for Empowerment and Employment.’ The meeting was also seized with the provincial elections which started in Midlands and Manicaland provinces last weekend. This coming weekend the Politburo resolved that provincial elections will be held in Mashonaland Central province followed by Masvingo province.
