Politically-Challenged: Texas Tech Edition Neal Meyer: Via Professor Kevin Gutzman, political scientists have known for the past 60 years or more that most people know little or nothing about politics. This three minutes video, shot at the Texas Tech campus, where a young lady asks her fellow students VERY basic questions about American history and politics, is not surprising. In political science, this branch of study is known as public ignorance. This phenomena has been captured on television by comedians like Jay Leno, and others, where such people are more widely known as low information voters. Important question: I obviously dont respect most lefties or progressives very much (there are some that I do), but at least the smart ones would answer such questions correctly and they do articulate their views. However, should Americans who cannot answer even very basic questions about current events, American (or world) history, or politics be allowed to vote in elections?
