Pomplamoose played the Beachland Ballroom last night. They rocked - TopicsExpress

Pomplamoose played the Beachland Ballroom last night. They rocked MUCH harder than I thought they would, but showed the great range of moods that they reveal on their many videos. They brought a great backing band to support Jack Contes keyboards and Nataly Dawns surprisingly rocking bass. Of the two, Conte is a much more animated stage performer, but the star of the show is Nataly Dawns beautiful, expressive voice. They played a lot of my favorites, including their covers of Royals, Makin Out (MUCH better than the original), Single Ladies, Come Together, and encoring with her her delicate and heartfelt version of La Vie en Rose. Ive been a huge fan of their terrific covers and clever videos for about 5 years now. Im no indie purist, but I very much admire how theyve maintained complete control over their work. They have optimally used social media to nurture and serve their loyal following (me included) with always fascinating You Tube videos, fresh takes on covers and their own terrific originals. And even without the support of a label or any major media exposure, they seem to be making a healthy living making the music they want to make. Theyre a case study in how to do it. Talent and innovation, folks.
