*Pondering Post and Request* There has been a suggestion Ive pondered for some time. Since at this time of year, people begin to think more about love, family, friends, and warmth, as well as generally more gratitude, I would like to offer you a possible challenge. I know each of us has our own, unique situation, but I firmly believe that no matter where we are, and in whatever circumstances we find ourselves, we can make a difference in the lives of others. The challenge, therefore, lies within the individual realm of influence each of us has. Take some time to carefully look around you, and think about the needs within your community - whether your community is offline, or online, a small town or a big city. Then, think about the things to which you have access: other people, finances, local shops, friends and family. Next, brainstorm ways you could make a contribution toward filling those needs youve seen around you. For instance: Do you knit, crochet, weave or sew? Do you know others who do? There might be a good chance that there are available resources, somewhere, that could donate/provide you supplies youd need to make hats, clothes, and blankets for people in the community. The recipients could be the homeless; organizations taking donations; local cancer centers; hospitals taking care kits for the newborns or trauma victims; etc.. Organize some local people who share your talents in this area, including some who can do research and outreach for gathering together the needs, the means, and the way. There are a number of charities and foundations taking such things; just make sure they are honest, and be sure to find out and follow their rules. Do you have a business that could provide some kind of charitable fund raiser, the process going to a specified recipient? Again, it could be anyone or organization in need. Do you have, or know someone someone who has, talents/connections to create a special event that could unite and benefit those involved? Perhaps a group that you share, online, could do a project to connect with the foundations that accept cards and letters for servicemen, or others who need an emotional, supportive boost? The possibilities are endless, and it just takes some time and talents. It would be great to keep tabs on this, together, if youre interested? What do you think, my friends? How much good could we do this year? :)
