Poor oral health in Oregon is a silent epidemic. Among the 32 states with basic screening survey data, Oregon ranks seventh in the percentage of children with untreated tooth decay. In fact, tooth decay is the single most chronic childhood disease, up to eight times more common than asthma. Nearly two out of three first-, second- and third-graders, representing 80,000 Oregon schoolchildren, already have had a cavity. Has your child seen a dentist?
