Pop Reg Collette had his in home visit today between 9:30am and 10:15am. With the help of his male physical therapist Jared, and another male physical therapist/driver at his side for the just in case, he was aided on either side, up the stairs and into the house. He walked through the house with his walker very well, his legs and balance a little awkward and choppy BUT he was MOVING and moving well. He worked well with his left hand - getting in and out of bed, opening the refrigerator door and getting a plate and putting it into the microwave (practice routine for fixing his own meals), got into the bathroom (aided with Jared) while Jared went over instructions with me. Then Jared and the other male aid/driver assisted Pop Reg down the stairs. Jared went over instructions for me to assist Pop Reg down the front stairs, however, I was very uncomfortable with the thought of aiding Pop Reg up or down the stairs for several reasons, all of which I expressed to Jared. Then Jared had Pop Reg do a practice run with getting in and out of our van. Then Jared and the other male assisted Pop Reg into the Iroquois van and away they went. Great job and well done for Pop Reg!!! Pop Reg has worked VERY hard for his eventual return home and he has done fabulous today!!! Love you Pop Reg!!
