Pope Paul VI On Oct 4 1965, went to nearby Holy Family Church to meet representatives of the Protestant, Jewish, Greek Orthodox faiths, leaders of religion that do not recognize the primacy of the Roman church. As Paul sat before the main altar of the church, a Protestant spoke to him of a "new brotherly spirit in the world" and a Jew told the pontiff that his visit was a "manifestation of the moral and the spiritual basis indispensable to a lasting peace". Replying in the spirit of the meeting, the pope said that peace is the work and duty of every human person regardless of his religious conviction.
