Bob Lebrun asked that I should share. Bob is presently in the Ottawa General Hospital From Brenda Gordon, Bobs wife. Well the time has come to provide you with another update on Bob. I am not sure if I told you that Bob had another spinal chemo about three/four weeks ago and unfortunately he has been having a number of pain issues since the chemo. The pain travels to different areas and can be mild to very severe. We had an appointment last week with the radiologist and he is recommending another rounds of 5 radiation sessions to help with the pain issues. This has now been scheduled to start on Monday, October 20th. So he will do a session each day for five days, so he has his final one tomorrow. I called the hematologist and asked if we could meet with her earlier than we planned because of a number of issues. Bob has had some severe pain issues and we needed some renewal of prescriptions; we have noticed that Bob has a small lump growing near the hair line on the right side of his head, he has a larger lump on his right shoulder and a lump forming at the base of his head; Bob has been having trouble with his fingers on his right hand and he has some difficulty holding a pen and writing; and Bob keeps losing his voice. Unfortunately the news we got was difficult to hear, and even more difficult to pass on to our family and friends. The lymphoma seems to be progressing aggressively and we were devastated to hear the they cannot treat it fast enough and he is now considered terminal. The hematologist advised that based on what she is seeing, Bob only has a few months left. This was very difficult news to hear and comprehend, and as you can imagine we have spent a bit of time trying to get our heads and hearts around it all. We hope you will forgive us for sending this news by email, but as you can imagine it is far too difficult to talk about right now. So forgive us for passing this sad news on in this fashion. Then on Tuesday when we were ready to head for bed, Bob was not able to stand. In trying to help him, he ended up on the floor and I had to call 911 for assistance. They took him to the hospital so that he could still get his radiation treatment and I was going to prepare a room in the dining room for him. Unfortunately the few months has now become only a couple months. They indicated today that it may be as soon as the end of November to mid-December. Sadly they have also decided that it would be far too difficult for me to care for him at home so they have decided he will go to a palliative care centre . It is devastating to know he won’t be coming home to the house again. While we are hoping for may court it may end up being bryere for a short time. We still try to take each day as it comes, and try to make each day together count. Life is changing dramatically and it is difficult to keep pace with what is going on and I try my very best to support Bob in every way. This is so tough and discouraging for him. Again I would like to thank you as always for your continued prayers and support. We are so truly blessed with a wonderful family and wonderfully supportive friends. Your continued prayers are so very much appreciated and we appreciate your messages and phone calls of support, it is appreciated far more than you know.
