Port Glasgow Boys Club Community Coaching This is ongoing every Saturday morning within the hub at Parklea, boys and girls aged between 4 and 6 can come along and join in by speaking to Alan, Graeme or Ryan. 2007s This young team are flying the flag for the Port boys every Sunday morning in the community stadium at Parklea, they continue to improve each week and are doing really well in their 4-a-side teams. 2006s The two teams played their 3 games at Seedhill and Parklea on Sunday, all boys continue to develop as young Port players with good dribbling, shooting and goal scoring on show, but all must learn to keep their positions and play as a team, this will be worked on at training. There was some good passing moves from back to front and switch play which resulted in goalscoring chances by the boys club team, well done. The 2006 Orange team played 3 local derbies playing really well, they won 1, drew 1 and lost 1, so keep developing and sticking to your positions, well done boys! Scorers Greig, Kai, Rhys, Adam, Aaron, Ryan G, Christopher and Zak. Team thank Fergusons shipyard workers and UPGSC for continued sponsorship. PGBC 2005s Orange This young team worked hard in both their games on Saturday at Parklea, and the hard work paid off as the coaches can see improvements in the game play and the results. Although they are still waiting on their first win of the season they did score some fine goals this weekend, Devlin Andersons fine solo run was one to mention, as well as good strikes from Patrick Bryan and Reece Farrell. All boys are starting to play as a team and young Logan Madden was fantastic in defence ensuring he protected his keeper well in both games. Well done to Aarron Kelly and Sean Reeve for taking their turn in between the sticks this week. Any boy interested in playing for this wee team can call Gillian on 07534230282 or come down to Parklea on Wed night at 5.30pm. Coaches and boys wish to thank Derek Watters Pro Golfer @ Gourock for his sponsorship for the season. PGBC 2005s Black This team are still looking for players, especially a goalkeeper, come along to Parklea on a Wed night at half 5 and speak to Daniel or Crawford. Team sponsor Derek Watters Pro Golfer @ Gourock PGBC 2004s Orange Sat saw the port travel to Johnstone to take on Johnstone burgh. Johnstone burgh started the game the better team with the back three of Aaron Keys, wee Blaney and big Aidan being kept busy throughout, with a solid and sometime fortunate defensive first half display the port managed to get to half time with a clean sheet. The second half the port came out the traps the quicker of the two teams and really took the game to Johnstone, a Marc McDonald goal giving the port the lead. Further efforts, a shot from distance by Blaney striking the post and two great chances for Peter Ingram going begging should have saw the port increase their lead With the game coming to a close Johnstone were to win a corner and the unmarked man calmly slotted the ball home. Hard lines for the port who maybe on their second half display shoulder taken more from the game. Thanks to sponsor Marcus Humphrey for their continued support. PGBC 2004s Black The boys travelled to Paisley on Saturday to play Drumchapel blue. With the opponents failing to show and the boys looking like heading home early Drumchapel amateurs 1st team offered to give the boys a game and save a wasted journey. In horrendous wind conditions the boys tried there best to make a spectacle of the match. The first half was a very tight affair with both sets of boys having good possession and causing each other problems. Drumchapel taking the lead just before half time and adding a quick second to lead at the break. The second half was much the same as the first with both sets of boys seing a lot of the ball and both goalkeepers kept busy. Drumchapel edging it aided heavily by the wind. Drumchapel would add to their tally to run out winners on the day with the port boys not getting any reward they were due for the great effort shown by the boys. The coaches pleased with the fight shown by the boys on the day always in the game and battling away well. Players and coaches thank Millar Property for sponsorship. PGBC 2004s White These boys played Ardgowan in Saturdays early kick off at Parklea, they worked hard but lost out to a stronger side. They are still looking to add to their squad so come along to Parklea on a Wednesday night at 5.30pm and speak to Paddy or Richie. Team sponsored by J J Motors Bishopton PGBC 2003s The 2003s took on a strong Glentyan Thistle team at Parklea on Saturday morning, but a strong faultless performance from the boys ensured another victory for this talented side. The boys have been moved into the 2nd tier of the PJDYFL but have not let it phased them in any way and are ready for any task they are set. Each and every player on the pitch displayed excellent football and gelled as a team. The coaches cannot praise the boys enough as they continue to get stronger in every game they are faced with. Keep up the good work. PGBC 2002s A local derby that saw two very evenly matched teams battle against blistery wintery condition, however they served up a cracking match. With the teams settling into the game Jack tapped in a corner at the back post, to which their opponents replied to with their next attack. With both goalkeepers in outstanding form and the Boys playing into the wind, they were unlucky to be behind at the break. Into the second half, the Boys drew level with a superb solo goal from AJ. As the half progressed, they found an extra gear and pushed on to finish strongly. Goals from Jack Brown (3) and Adam Johnstone (2). 2002’s Blacks In a game that had plenty of goalscoring chances, these were met by two goalkeepers who played out their skins to protect their goal. With a goalless first half, both teams pressed into the second half for the breakthrough, which created more chances but the keepers still remained unbeatable. Midway through the half Ross sent a throw in deep into the opponents goal area and Connor turned a sent his shot over the keepers head into the net. The Boys through excellent defending managed to see out the match with their goal intact. Goal from Connor Cameron. PGBC 13s 10 St Cadocs 1 St Cadocs were the visitors to Parklea as Port looked to get back to winning ways. Port got an early goal after good play from Ryan Phillips saw him beat two men before setting up Sean ODonnell who shot beat the keeper. St Cadocs hit back quick on their first attack by stealing the ball on the edge of Ports box before lifting it over helpless Dimitris Cameron in the Port goal. Declan Adair put Port back in front when Brandon McCabes corner was only cleared to the edge of the box where Declan Galbraith was on hand to smash a great strike into the top of the net. Good pressure from Ryan Phillips saw him steal the ball and slide the ball past the St Cadocs keeper as half time came. The second half started and so did Ports goal rush. First up was Ewan McClement who ran onto a nice ball over the top from Ryan Phillips before controlling well and slotting the ball home. Next a poor throw by St Cadocs keeper was won by Declan Adair who lobbed the ball over the keeper into the net. Ryan Phillips was next after a good run down the left, he cut inside and beat the keeper from a very acute angle. Ryan then turned provider when he set up Declan Adair to round off his hat-trick. Declan then got his 4th when a good ball from Ross McKay saw Declans shot go through the keepers hands. Next for his hat-trick was Ryan Phillips when he got onto the end on a good ball from Scott Marshall. Declan Adair rounded off the scoring by beating the offside trap well after a floated ball over the top. Referees Man of the Match - Ryan Phillips Team sponsored by INVERWELD
