Carassauga has been around for 29 years we were one of the founding Pavilions and very proud to be part of this festival which has grown over the years. President of the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Mississauga Gilberto Moniz has been the head of this centre for 15 of those years, this is no small feat. This year he wanted to showcase the Island of Sao Miguel, our restaurant has the Portas da Cidade - Doors of the City as the back drop and we have to thank the wonderful carpenters that took time out of their busy schedules to recreate the Portas da Cidade for us. Deciding on a different theme every year takes time and vision to make sure that every piece falls in to place for this great event. It is not an easy job running a Centre this size but he has done this for many years with great commitment, dedication and a love for this Centre to see it succeed and flourish. All this is done to keep our Portuguese culture and heritage alive even though we are far from our roots, we want our children to understand and to continue their Portuguese customs and traditions. Thank you Shr Gilberto for being so committed to making this a great Centre and I also have to thank Shra Helena Moniz for the great decorations inside the hall for Carassauga and for all the events throughout the year, as they say behind a great man there is also a great woman. I think I have captured it all so in finalizing Viva Portugal!!!!
