Position (Job title): Environmental Practitioner Department: Environmental Management Branch/Division/Location: Rivonia office, Manager: Ms Tembisa Mdlalo Job summary: Provides a professional advisory service to maintain an appropriate sustainability profile for Gemini GIS and Environmental Services (GGES) through effective implementation of relevant Sustainability and Environmental strategies and policies and provides input and influences outcomes in the environmental field. Conduct environmental impacts assessments, environmental audits, monitoring and implement best environmental practices. Ensure environmental compliance throughout GGES projects. Key areas of responsibility: Team leader and advice junior employees Represent GGES in meetings, and or seminars Prepare tender documents Conduct EIAs Develop and Implement Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Write reports (EIR,EMP, monthly reports, project status reports, etc) Skills requirements: Environment Management Research Presentation skills and report writing Negotiation skills Good written/verbal communication Analytical and Interpersonal skills Computer literacy and skills in terms of Word, Excel, Power Point and e-mail, etc. Qualifications requirements: B Degree in Environment Science OR B Tech Environment 2-3 Years related experience Added Advantage; Special knowledge: Environmental legislation, EMS ISO 14001 and implementation of EA and EMP requirements. Driver’s license Relevant personal attributes: Self starter and have the ability to work independently Understanding of Sustainability issues at a technical and a policy level. Knowledge of Environmental Consultancy Business and the integration of sustainability in the business. An understanding of international and national agreements and trends in the sustainability field. Understanding of South Africa’s involvement in international agreements
