Position Summary Under the supervision of the CSF Program Supervisor, provides support services to parents involved in Dependency and Voluntary Services in the County’s child welfare system. Shares their personal journey through the child welfare and dependency court systems and their eventual reunification with their child(ren), enabling clients to benefit from their past experience by providing mentorship to them to help them navigate the CWS system. Specific Activities § Reviews A Parent’s Guide to the Child Welfare System booklet and video with all referred families. § Attends Team Disciplinary Meetings (TDMs) with parents as required. § Provides in-home education and support services to parents for successful completion of their case plan goals by offering assistance in navigating the child welfare system, and providing individualized education and support based on the needs of the family. § Identifies and helps parents to utilize family strengths to overcome identified challenges to reunification and/or family maintenance. § Is a mandated reporter and can provide crisis management intervention when needed. § Remains culturally sensitive and respectful in all client and staff interactions. § Maintains detailed case file documentation utilizing County approved forms and formats. § Updates client list and monthly report, and submits it to supervisor on a monthly basis. § Completes training as required by Lifeline, the County of San Diego, to work with CWS involved parents attempting to reunify with their children. § Participates in staff meetings, supervision, training programs, and other meetings in accordance with Lifeline and/or County requirements. § Participates in CWS work groups and committees as requested by the County of San Diego/ COTR. § Works and collaborates with CSF Family Support Partners regarding the family’s progress, and contacts immediately if any significant concerns arise. § Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements Successful candidate must have experience as a parent previously involved in the Child Welfare and Dependency Court Systems and has been successfully reunited with their child(ren). Must be bilingual (English/Spanish). Basic computer skills. Compatible with the agency’s mission which is to build self-reliance among youth, individuals and families through problem solving, skill-building and accessible community-based services. All interactions and work related activities need to be done in a manner that is culturally sensitive to the population being served. Knowledge of community resources a plus, as well as ability to identify client strengths as relevant to overcoming identified challenges to self-sufficiency. Must be organized and capable of maintaining detailed case files and documentation of progress in a professional manner. Ability to establish appropriate boundaries with clients and co-workers, and adhere to HIPAA and other confidentiality laws. Must pass required background checks, have reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and valid California Driver’s license. Be willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet client needs. Compensation/Benefits Part-time, 20 hours/ week. $13.06/hr which includes bilingual compensation.
