Position Title: Full or Associate Professor Job Description: Position includes responsibilities for teaching, advising, maintenance of personal research program, participation in professional activities, and serving on university committees. Appointment is for the nine month academic year. Teaching and research responsibilities will require expertise in one or more areas of the curriculum, e.g.,: management, knowledge management, information technology, information resources and services, knowledge organization, data curation, digital libraries/archives or health informatics. Candidates should be prepared to teach in the graduate level core, with opportunities to teach undergraduate courses in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) program. Opportunities exist to work with doctoral students in the College, and to help shape the evolution of an exciting new degree program. Qualifications: Requires an earned doctorate in library and information science or a related area, good academic training, successful teaching experience, and a strong record of research in relevant areas of interest to College faculty and students. The University of Kentucky is the flagship campus in the state, situated in greater Lexington (population 300,000), in the beautiful Bluegrass region of horse farms and rolling hills. Lexington in an increasingly diverse community with a thriving downtown and lively arts and culture scene. Founded in 1865, UK is a public, research-extensive, land grant Institution, ranked among the top U.S. public universities on a number of criteria, with special strength in the health sciences. The School is part of the College of Communication and Information, which includes the Department of Communication and the School of Journalism and Telecommunications, and is a member of the iSchool consortium. The Master’s program is ALA–accredited. Strong relationships with computing, telecommunications and library services provide a rich environment for teaching and research.
