Position with Crowley Engineering Manager (Lake Charles, Louisiana) Crowley has a career opportunity working with a sophisticated, high-tech fleet. As Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to influence the development of operating procedures and management systems for an entirely new class of vessels. Our Ocean Class tugs, 10,800 BHP, DP-1 and DP-2 are managed from the Lake Charles, Louisiana Gulf Operations Office. The Engineering Manager will be a key player in the continued development of both the management systems and people that maintain and operate these vessels. He or she will also participate in the development of new designs and technology. With the support of a solid team of industry veterans and new innovators, the Engineering Manager will be well positioned to assist in growing the business and have opportunities for personal growth and advancement. JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for managing marine engineering operations for a diverse fleet of proven and new equipment – the geographic range is based in the Gulf of Mexico with world-wide operations. Daily duties include but are not limited to: • Supervise a team of engineers. • Recommend, assist with and supervise employee development plans including technical and leadership training. • Ensure that fleet equipment is maintained to the highest standards of readiness and reliability. • Provide design input and technical expertise for equipment modification. • Develop and ensure adherence to vessel budgets and operating plans utilizing tools such as Nautical Systems 5 (NS5) and / or Nautical Systems Enterprise • Ensure work is being performed in compliance with company standards as well as local, state, and/or federal guidelines and regulations. • Manage vendors and contractors including negotiation of rates and recommending changes. • Evaluate shipyard bid packages and recommend awards. • Assist in maintaining staffing levels of trained marine engineers. • Assist with the development of bid response packages and technical packages for commercial opportunities. • Provide a leadership model of professionalism and technical capability to Crowley employees and customers. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 5-8 years of related marine engineering experience in a supervisory capacity. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Proficiency in maintenance, repair, and ship management software, such as ABS Nautical Systems 5 (NS-5) is preferred. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or a related field from an accredited college, university or maritime academy. Licensed as a marine engineer by the U.S. Coast Guard. Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
