****This message is for senior Zambian leaders in the USA****: I have a few things that I need to discuss about senior leaders in our community. Often times when you guys are dealing with us you deal with us on your level when we clearly are not.. yes we may have the energy, and can type 400 words a minute on our iphones.. but that doesnt mean we know life.. its true reality. In 2015 Im asking the senior leaders of our community to exercise some patience with young leaders- ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU WERE WHEN YOU WERE AT THAT YOUNG AGE and give us the patience. If you feel a young leader needs growth in certain areas, balance the areas that he/she is good in and give them the patience to help them address that area that you feel they need help in. ALL of us are human beings, and even you senior leaders are still growing and have a network of mentors to help you grow. My fear is that senior leaders in the Zambian community get easily frustrated with leaders in my generation; HONESTLY.. we are dealing with a very different world than the one you dealt with; above all we live in an INDIVIDUALISTIC CULTURE whereas you leaders grew up in a communal culture. SO YES at times my generation will come across as being selfish and lacking the communal spirit but not to make excuses we are products of the cultures we are raised in. Im asking in sincerity that YOU ALL exercise patience, love and a focused concern for the growth of young leaders- sometimes the change you desire is not made by you; it is made by a leader you groomed. I hope in 2015 we will have more senior members of our community reach out to young people and help structure their lives with patience.
