Positive thinking without Scriptural backup can be shallow. Sometimes the Lord does not want us to be so positive about all issues. From the Bible though, it is clear that we are what we think(see Proverbs 23:7). Recently talking to a dear loved one that visualizes a negative outcome to all suggestions given, I thought: yes, you will certainly fail because you are so convinced you will. That is why it says in Philippians 4:8 that we are to think on things that are true, lovely, right, admirable, pure, excellent and praiseworthy and not on what ifs and supposes…. Stop feeling pity and buck up as He also has not given us a spirit of fear. If you received some negative examples growing up; who hasnt some? It is the past and we are not to marinade in it as a dear friend always says.
