Post 2 of 2... Day 47 of ES (Tuesday) Radiation treatment 20/30 (sooooo close to single digits...eeeeek!!!!) Chemo treatment 23 After starting the week with a Monday like we had, you can only expect things to be a little less exciting. Not in our world!!! :) Radiation-Of course, done with ease (forgot to mention radiation yesterday but, by now, you know hes rockin it every day!!) The whole gang came today (Elijah, Sam, Becky, Gigi, and me) and we headed back to meet with Dr. Crimaldi. Dr. Crimaldi...hmmmm...there are so many things I could say about Dr. Crimaldi. I will start with this. WE LOVE HIM! He told us the very first day we met him that he would be available 24/7. I thought that was pretty awesome, but little did I know he meant 24/7 for ALL of us. At one time or another, weve all had a moment during a doctor appointment. When he came in today, one of us was a little shaky. He cleared the room (even sending out Elijah) to make sure everything was ok and to provide any help needed. I swear, that man could make Ebenezer Scrooge happy! Thank you Dr. Crimaldi! Ok...Elijah news from Crimaldi. THE TUMOR IS CONTINUING TO SHRINK! I can barely even type that without tears welling up in my eyes. He explained to us that even he didnt expect this much change, but he is THRILLED with the radiations effect on the tumor. Of course he had to joke about Dr. Patt, the surgeon, not believing he could really shrink it down that much; kind of a HA! Dr. Patt (even though Dr. Patt was not even there. See why we love him?). While we were over the moon about the tumor continuing to shrink, he went a step further and explained that generally tumors shrink to their core. (He used a word that I cannot remember for the life of me.) Anyway, what this means is that as the tumor shrinks, it pulls away for the outer edges and becomes smaller and smaller toward the core or center. (thanks for asking Gigi!) He obviously couldnt give us any absolutes-this is just known to be generally true. However, IF that is whats happening, that means the tumor is pulling AWAY from Elijahs spinal cord and vertebrae!!! And if THATS what is happening, surgery wont be nearly as intense! WARRIORS, GOD IS TAKING CARE OF THIS NASTY CANCER!!! GOD HEARS YOUR PRAYERS AND IS HEALING ELIJAHS BODY! AAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!! Being the good sport that he is, Dr. Crimaldi even agreed to wear one of the WWE masks the boys brought today. Elijah was Sin Cara, Sam was El Torito, and Dr. Crimaldi was Rey Mysterio. This is the second time hes been willing to do whatever it takes to make these boys smile! Of course, there are pictures!! We left the meeting walking on air! How could things possibly get better?!?!? Wellllll... One of Beckys neighbors, Claudia Moreno (responsible for golf tournament and Ric Flair call...can this woman get any more wonderful??), contacted a friend who works for CBS Radio. An interview was scheduled for us today at 2:00 with Francene Marie, host of The Francene Marie Show, CBS Radio: KISS 95.1, K104.7, 6.10 Sports, 103.7, & 1660-AM. She spoke with Elijah, Becky and me about everything that has been going on since May 23. She really wants to bring awareness to people about the financial burden families face when confronted with an illness such as cancer. Her show airs on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00am-7:00am (not sure of the channels yet but will let you know when we are). It was SO much fun! I think Elijah might have a future in radio! He was a natural!! Sam even got in on the action! THANK YOU CLAUDIA, ROBIN, and FRANCENE! What a WOW experience for all of us!! Pics to come!! Not only did we do a little radio spot today, Becky was contacted by WSOCTV. WHAT?!?! Yep, were doing everything we can to get Elijahs story out there and bring awareness to this horrible disease! Becky did a phone interview with Sarah Lively, Web Producer and writer of the weekly column Saturday Spotlight. She is very interested in Elijahs story and is excited to share his journey on the WSOCTV webpage. Were not sure which Saturday the story will be posted. If you simply go to wsoctv and type Saturday Spotlight in the search box, you will be able to see the stories. THANK YOU SARAH for being a voice for Elijah!! Finally left Charlotte and the boys wanted R&R Barbecue! They both ate TWO hotdogs! Elijah had fries and two bowls of corn while Sam had hushpuppies and a bowl of corn! All this excitement the last two days has really given them an appetite! YAY!!! I dont even know what to say about the two incredible days weve had this week! Cant imagine that anything could bring us down right now! All I have felt the past two days is HAPPY! So, Pharrell Williams, thank you for daring the bad news to come our way-it would just be a waste of its time! ;) PRAYER WARRIORS, I dont know exactly what youre praying for, but please dont stop!
