Post #45 Why do rain drops and bubbles spherical in shape?? Generaly, the cohesive forces in water are very strong, so they tend to stick together(surface tension). The shape of a drop of rain and bubble are constrained by the surface tension, which tries to give it the shape for which the surface area is minimum. For a given volume, the spherical shape has the minimum surface area. That is why rain drops and bubbles acquire spherical shape.
