Mount Halcon or Monte Halcón is a mountain located in the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. Its height of 2,586 m (8,482 ft) makes it the 18th highest peak in the Philippines. Wikipedia Its slopes have earned it the title to be the most difficult mountain to climb in the country. Mt. Halcon is highly regarded as one of the toughest climbs in the Philippines, and together with Mt. Guiting-Guiting in Romblon and Mt. Mantalingajan in Palawan comprises the Knife Edge Trilogy - three Difficulty 9/9 climbs that are truly world-class tropical mountaineering challenges. Halcons biological profile is equally prestigious, being home to a lot of endemic flora and fauna. This mountain consider as the highest peak within MIMAROPA [Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan] WITH ELEVATION OF 8,484 feet (2586 MASL). This mountain is the natural boundary of the two provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro. For the vintage mountaineers consider this one as one of the toughest mountain on their list. The mountain has its own unique climate. I would like to thank BaseKamp Trinoma for giving me an opportunity to EXPLORE THE GREAT WONDERS OF MOUNT HALCON, indeed this mountain is the HARDEST and the TOUGHEST among the list of 9/9 classify as difficult to climb as of to date. The KNIFE EDGE, the KNEE SHAKING WOODEN LADDER, the LIMATIKS, the UP HILL / DOWN HILL and of course the DESCENT and the ASSAULT or VICE VERSA makes a mountaineer push to their limits .. The HARDEST to climb among them all .. HALCON Baco, Oriental Mindoro May 14 - 18, 2014 At JAM LINER BUS TERMINAL, Kamias, Cubao, Quezon City. 1:30 am. Left bus terminal, 1:45 am. Arrived Batangas pier 4:30 am. Ro-Ro left Batangas pier 5:20 am. At the ship .. Arrived Calapan, Mindoro port 7:40 am.. Arrived Baco, Municipal Hall 8:30 am. Left Baco, Municipal Hall 10:00 am. Arrived Barangay Lantuyan 10:45 am. Passing hanging bridge at Barangay Lantuyan .. Early lunch at Barangay Lantuyan Started trekking 12:30 pm. passing Mangyan Village. River crossing .. Trekking .. Resumed trekking .. After almost 8 hours we reached camp site, APLAYA 8:15 pm. Fixed our tent, cooked our food, ate and rested .. Lights out 11:00 pm. THE HARDEST, TOUGHEST AND A TRIUMPHANT CLIMB AS OF TO DATE. BASEKAMP TRINOMA - MT. HALCON Baco, Oriental Mindoro May 14 - 18, 2014 Second day ... Good morning Mt. Halcon Wake-up call 6:00 am Prepared breakfast and served it 7:30 am.. Prepared our things and photo-ops 8:00 am. Started trekking and assault 9:00 am. Passing Dulangan River 9:45 am and had a splashed to refresh ourselves. 1480 MASL at 10:53 am.. Took our lunch at Pak Pak River banks or Mag-asawang Ilog 11:54 am .. Resumed trekking and assault 1:00 pm. Passing Anglo Falls, last water source 1:27 pm. 1900 MASL @ 2:45 pm. 1975 MASL @ 3:02 pm. Anglo mini summit. Reached camp site before the summit 4:56 pm. Passing knife edge .. Climbing wooden ladder before the summit. Passing +Neptali Lazaros place where he died. Reached summit of Mt. Halcon 6:03 pm. ANG LAMEG ..... PROMISE! We fixed our tent, changed our clothes and did some stuff.. We cooked and ate dinner past 8:00 pm. Lights-off/out 9:00 pm. THE HARDEST, TOUGHEST AND A TRIUMPHANT CLIMB AS OF TO DATE. BASEKAMP TRINOMA - MT. HALCON Baco, Oriental Mindoro May 14 - 18, 2014 Third day ... Good morning Mt. Halcon ... FREEZING COLD .....!!!!!! We had sleepless night because of the very cold weather .. 1:00 am .. 2:00 am .. 3:00 am .. 4:00 am .. Every hour we are awaked .. Around 5:00 in the morning we are all awaked to witness the MAGNIFICENT SEA OF CLOUDS .. WOW ANG GANDA !!! Mas MAGANDA PA SEA OF CLOUDS NIYA KESA SA MT. PULAG ..!! At the summit ... Photo Ops .. Leaving Mt. Halcon summit 8:15 am. Passing Anglo Falls .. Arrived Pak Pak River or Mag-asawa ng Ilog 11:45 am. Cooked our food and took our lunch at the river banks .. 1505 MASL @ 11:45 am. Arrived Dulangan River and made a quick splashed 2:15 pm. Leaving Dulangan River and finished our quick splash 3:15 pm. In 45 minutes Tatay Rolly and I arrived Aplaya Camp site 4:00 pm. We are all happy in the camp site .. Fixed our tent, cooked our food, dine and socials .. Light out/off 12 mn. Good night and Good morning Mt. Halcon. THE HARDEST, TOUGHEST AND A TRIUMPHANT CLIMB AS OF TO DATE. BASEKAMP TRINOMA - MT. HALCON Baco, Oriental Mindoro May 14 - 18, 2014 Fourth day ... Good morning Mt. Halcon. Its our last day in our climb. Wake up call 3:00 am. We are only awoke so we decided to go back to sleep, most of them are all asleep .. 4:00 am. wake up call again, we finally all awaked, we cooked our breakfast, fixed our things and we left Aplaya Camp site 7:40 am. From Aplaya camp site to Igatol - one (1) hour and 25 minutes .. Quite fast ..:-) To avoid LIMATIK ... We ate KARAYO native fruit in Mangyan village. 10:55 am. we arrived in Mangyan Village. We had a festive lunch courtesy of ATE LAURA .. ANG SARAP NG FOOD HANDA SA BINYAGAN NG APO .. ;-) We left Lantuyan jump-off 1:35 pm. and proceeded to Mark Morrisons residence in Baco. We ate, refreshed ourselves, drank MP, chitchat, photo ops with the family and more ... ;-) We left Marks res. 5:30 pm. going to Calapan port. We arrived Calapan port 6:30 pm. Ro-Ro left 7:40 pm. Ro-Ro arrived Batangas port 9:30 pm. Left Batangas port 9:50 pm. Reached Mantrade/Magallanes 12:05 am.
