Posted by Linda~ The question everyone wants the answer to...why does bad things happen to good people.. There began a assumption long ago for me. If I was a good Christian good wife good mother good friend good employee the result would be good in that area. It was something I had control of so my faith and trust was truly not in God but my own ability. But troubles struggles hardships loses all are like rain. In my yard if a rain cloud comes everything in its path gets wet. Not just the evil trees, the mean plants not the untruthful plants but all. So when troubles came way my I begin to question God. Feeling slighted and used thinking how could this be after everything I have done. Storm after storm I finally gave up and spent many years capsized on the beach afraid to get back in the boat. Then I finally got the message. Things dont happen to you but for you. Every storm has a purpose bringing a need noone knew existed. Driving through Clayton the other day me and the kids saw pillows of smoke coming from the shotwell area. We decided to investigate. Turns out it was a planned burn. I explain to the kids how farmers burn thier fields to restore nutrients eliminate pest and rejuvenate the soil. Clearly how God does with us. In this life we are all enrolled in a self improvement course. We may not pass every test but life is a great teacher and will present the course in a different manner. So the bigger lesson for me as long as I am in control its not really Faith or trust in God but in me.
