Posted my thoughts on #MH370 on a friends timeline... Unfortunately I think this will turn out to be a catastrophic decompression.. as in, the integrity of the planes fuselage was breached somehow and it disintegrated in midair. This would leave no time for the pilots to attempt to recover or relay any sort of distress call. The obvious clue is the absolute clean break in telemetry data coming from the plane. One instant, its cruising along @ 35,000 feet, the next it simply doesnt exist. So this means it either blew up or suffered some sort of extraordinary electrical failure that caused multiple redundant systems on the plane to fail, all at the same time. While the most obvious cause of decompression here is an explosion from a bomb it could also be a structural failure of the fuselage due to metal fatigue or mechanic error, striking another object in the air, being shot down by an air defense missile (therere a lot of nervous warship captains in the region), or some other instantaneous cause. The only benefit of this hypothesis that I can see is that those passengers would not have experienced the terror of their descent, as they would have been killed instantly in the decompression. Whatever the cause, heartbreaking.
