The Statistics Assistant posts are primarily located in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) in New York. Statistics Assistants are responsible for collecting and processing various types of economic, social, demographic, financial and environmental data and metadata, at the national, regional and global level, and preparing them for presentation and dissemination in flagship and other publications, databases and reports, and on the internet. Appointments against these posts will be on a local basis and appointees are not entitled to international benefits. No travel expenses to attend the examination, interview, obtain visas or relocation outlays will be reimbursed. High school diploma or equivalent; 2. A minimum of seven years of experience in statistics, finance, accounting, economics or another related area; 3. Fluency in oral and written English. The examination consists of three parts which will be given in English: 1. Written test: Covers simple mathematics, logical reasoning and basic knowledge of tables, graphs and charts; 2. Practical test: Assesses candidates’ knowledge of Microsoft Excel 2010; 3. Oral interview: Those candidates who are successful in the first two parts will be invited to an oral interview.
