Extension of appointment will be subject to budgetary approval. The position is located within the Policy Section of the Mine Action Service of the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations. The incumbent will report to the Chief of the Policy Section, under the strategic guidance of the UNMAS Director. Education Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, law, public administration or other related area. A first level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area. Experience working with inter-agency and inter-governmental processes is required. Field work within an international humanitarian organization, special political mission, or peacekeeping mission is required. Mine action experience is desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
