Posting for these great teachers who run free classes at Help of Ojai. Classes available for Ojai Residents only: ALIGN YOUR BODY FOR WELLNESS AND HEALTHY AGING It is never too late…or too early…to make positive changes in our daily lives to optimize our good health. Proper biomechanical alignment can help prevent common problems associated with “aging” and can begin reversing damage that may have already been done. Our bodies are like “self-winding clocks” that require movement to regenerate, grow, and stay healthy. HOW you move is what makes the difference between pain, degenerative diseases, and optimal health. And that is what you will learn by attending the “Align Your Body For Wellness” weekly classes at Help of Ojai on Wednesdays, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. starting January 14, 2015. Newcomers are asked to come at 1:00 p.m. to learn the basics before the regular class. Classes are based on Restorative Exercise™ created by Katy Bowman. Bowman is not just another exercise guru. She’s a biomechanical scientist who for more than 15 years has been researching and devising methods of teaching efficient movement that promote health to the entire body. For additional information see restorativeexercise and sign up for her free blog. Joan Allen and Lora Woods, certified Restorative Exercise Specialists™ and Ojai residents, teach the classes. Allen has a background as an attorney and personal trainer and Woods has a background as an RN with an M.A. from UCLA in dance-movement therapy. These classes give you scientifically designed movement education that transfers into activities of daily living as well as enhancement of sports performance. They will teach you how to stand taller, walk stronger, and promote better stability in your body. All ages are welcome. Come join us in our Alignment Lab. Challenge yourself and have a few laughs on the way. To enroll in these free classes, contact Help of Ojai’s Little House at (805) 646-5122 or stop by Help of Ojai at 111 W. Santa Ana Street. Bring an exercise mat and a willingness to examine a new way of thinking, standing, sitting and walking. Classes are open to Ojai residents only.
