Posting this from singer/actor/model Tyrese Gibsons page. It is a very important message and it needs to be heard. I feel it is relevant to MJ because I realized as I was watching that this is yet another way in which MJ stood apart from other famous people his entire life. MJ NEVER placed his value in what the world thought of him like so many of our celebrities (and regular folk) do. He stood in his truth from day one. It was HIS truth that white socks and black loafers looked good with high-water slacks, so GUESS WHAT? HE ROCKED THEM. No questions asked. And the whole world copied him. He stood in his truth and not the medias when it came to his music, his personal choices, his dedication to children and their causes. He didnt let the ridicule and the invalidation attempts of the masses control his attitude. I never saw MJ make one attempt to Blacken up when people tossed accusations of racial self-hate his way. He kept right on doing what he was doing.... BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS for his race and others as well. While they were saying he wanted to be something other than what he was, he quietly dropped short films that depicted ancient Egyptian kings and queens on thrones, danced with tribes in Africa, and showed himself as a Black panther... the ultimate symbol of quiet strength. But they couldnt even SEE it! He never parented his babies any differently because people didnt understand the masks... He stood in his truth. They even took this man to COURT for child molestation accusations and HE NEVER ABANDONED ONE CHILD IN NEED. Most famous people would turn their backs on all children if the media and the world thinks such awful thoughts about them could even remotely be true. Not this man. Because he was a man who validated himself through his own knowledge of what GOD placed inside of him. Nothing else mattered. The lesson we can all learn is just that. Never doubt yourself, your talents, your beliefs, your worth, or potential because of what they think. Please enjoy this video (a little language, but I think it wasnt gratuitous) and make sure you carry it with you, especially on the days when you feel most alone. Positive responses ONLY, please.
