Postre is doing fantastic! I am having a lot of fun learning how to get him to mentally engage with me. As an LBE his main drive is PLAY. Our liberty sessions have helped create some great (but still inconsistent) mental connection. For most LBEs The round pen is the most boring place on earth. A circle full of sand with a human making me run around. Hm...if rather not. However when I am able use my energy and be provocative enough to make it interesting for him then we both win. For the first week I used a similar strategy to get him connected under saddle. He always tells me when he has checked out by grabbing and mouthing a rein. Whenever he does this I know I need to do more interesting and fun things to get his mind back. There is no point in asking him to work, or learn anything new when he has that sort of frenetic energy and lack of interest. Despite the crazy warm-ups he is moving along beautifully and really showing off his fancy gaits! Linda saw our very first session then left for 10 days. Upon returning Sunday she was super Duper impressed with our progress:) Here is a little video if Susan Sleeper Dosset (Postres owner) riding him for the first time since he came to me. They did super together!
