Posture time!! Half Moon pose - Backward bend. Ok, hands up. Who feels fear in this one? ...me! Backward bending can raise a lot of fear. Its scary. It feels unnatural. It is a natural range of motion. You may feel a lot of tension in your shoulders and neck. Focus your attention of the base of the neck and let it go in that spot. More. Youre still fighting it, all the surrounding muscles are tensed. Backward bending wont be half as difficult or uncomfortable if you relax. :) Lift your torso up out of your hips, inhale and slowly drop your head back as much as possible. Slowly bring your arms, and body backwards as much as possible, keeping the arms and knees straight. This posture requires a bend and stretch. Try to maintain the mental image of stretch over bend. e.g. stretching your whole body from finger tips to toes vs collapsing or crunching into your lower back. Oh, and dont forget to breath!! *reference Bikrams Beginning Yoga Class Book - Bikram Choudhury #thesequence #tipstricksnotherusefulbits #bikramyogatownsville #backwardbending
