Potential Severe Weather This afternoon through Thursday morning, there is a significant threat of severe weather across Ohio. This weather will come through in two rounds – o The first brings a potential for severe thunderstorms increasing after 4:00 p.m. mainly near and north of I-70. Any severe thunderstorms that occur will have the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. This round of storms will affect Ohio from 4:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. o A second round of widespread thunderstorms will develop later this evening and move across the area (11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.). These thunderstorms pose a greater risk of producing significant severe weather including (primarily) damaging winds with secondary threats of brief tornadoes and large hail. Swaths of localized wind damage with significant tree damage, power loss, and minor structural damage are possible, especially in western Ohio and southeast Indiana with this second line of storms. o Flash flooding/areal flooding is also possible, especially tonight, with any of these thunderstorms. Areas of northern Ohio will see the longest duration of heavy rainfall rates. Some rivers may go into flood on Thursday depending on rainfall amounts.
