Poverty Point Tool Demonstration By using little more than the remnants of daily life people left behind, archaeology has helped tell the story of the Poverty Point inhabitants who lived in the area over 3,500 years ago. Poverty Point State Historic Site will have a look of the past Sunday, April 6, as the park hosts a tool demonstration. The program will consist of how the Poverty Point inhabitants made and used stone tools. It includes “hands on” artifacts display, with audience participation encouraged. The event will run every hour on the hour, beginning at 1 p.m. and ending at 4 p.m. Poverty Point State Historic Site offers visitors the opportunity to study the culture of area inhabitants from 1600 to 1100 BC. The $4 admission fee provides access to the area museum, video, hiking trail and tram tour. Children (12 and under) and senior citizens (62 and over) are admitted free.
