Power Movie review After much delay, Power Star has finally hit the theatres with great power! One of the most expected as well as the controversial movie of the year, Power Star, has been released in 226 screens in Karnataka, which is the biggest ever for a Kannada film. It has opened in more than 50 screens in Bangalore alone! This is Kollywood siren Trisha’s debut in Sandalwood and the actress has not left any stone unturned for the publicity of the film! Despite Power Star’s absence during promotions, Trisha, along with the team promoted the film across the state. Another Tamil actor Prabhu also plays an important role in the film. The film opens with the death of a politician, Krishna Murthy (Prabhu Ganeshan), who is killed in an unfortunate accident. Later, his son Bharath (Puneet Rajkumar) becomes a cop. Bharath, who is on a mission, is all set to trap the underworld Don (Kelly Dorjee). In between his operations to catch the don, he meets a girl named Prashanthi (Trisha) and falls in love with her. While Bharath is busy singing songs and fighting the dons, he learns that his father is not dead and is in coma stage. Bharath, who wants his father to recover, takes him to the ancestral mansion and lies to him that he too has also become a politician and thus our hero begins some complicated maneuvers, trying to take care of a father whose health is precarious by setting up a double identity of sorts, and making headway in catching criminals as well. This is why Bharath tricks an unsuccessful film maker (Rangayana Raghu) to make a reality TV show in the mansion. As a part of the show, he also tricks a corrupt politician into a real estate deal. He uses the opportunity to explore the connection between Mafia Don and the corrupt politicians. Will Bharath’s real identity be caught by his father and mafia dons? If Bharath manages to keep the changes under wrap for his father and take revenge from the baddies has to be watched on the silver screen. Though the plot seems a little confusing, the movie, especially the comedy, keeps the audience alive and entertained! Puneeth does a fantastic job as a tough cop and he proves that he is the director’s actor! His dancing skills are worth mentioning and it’s Puneeth who is the showman of the movie! Trisha looks perfect for the role and is an eye candy. Despite not knowing the language, her acting and voiceover is just a treat to watch. They both make a good onscreen pair and the chemistry is good! With a star-cast this huge and a good technical crew a neat screenplay is expected and this is where the director could have worked on. In spite of being a Telugu remake, director K.Madesh could have put some effort to make it ‘more local’. Unfortunately director has failed to do the same. Yet, Power Star is definitely worth a watch! Verdict: Worth watching
