Power out Lewis and Harris A major malfunction in the Callanish area this afternoon took all of Lewis and Harris off power once again. There were local reports of an explosion, and police and fire services attended. SSE engineers are at the scene and are isolating power sectors. Stornoway, Point and Broad Bay areas are now back on. North Lochs due back on very shortly, and all power to the West Side and Harris, and to all other areas, is expected to be back on within an hour. Further faults may then be revealed. Once again please call Faire on 701702 if you have any welfare concerns for yourself, a relative or neighbour, and SSE emergency number 0800 300 999 if neighbours power comes back on and yours does not.
