Power went down at about 4.30pm, taking the internet with it (a power cable blew, damaging the Virgin feed in a shared conduit). So, sitting in candle light, like its the 18th century, I suggested my youngest play the piano, like they did In the old days, as I couldnt keep up a conversation with a 15-year-old. She pointed out the piano is electric and anyway, she couldnt play due to the fact she was wrapped in two blankets and a duvet. Wed been taken back to the stone-age!. Used the last matches to light the candles, so couldnt cook anything, was thinking of eating the cat as it was the only warm, edible thing in the house, either that, or cold soup. Started to feel a bit post-apocalyptic. 5.00pm, the power returned, much rejoicing ensued, but still no broadband or tv, damn!, I turned back to the piano.....
