Prabodh Chandra Dey (May 1, 1919 – October 24, 2013) passed away today - he, who has kept us mesmerized with his singing for the better part of nearly seven decades. Who can forget Zindagi Kaisi hai Paheli. I doubt there will be ever be a more captivating rendering of Laga Chunari Mein daag or Ek Cahtur Naar. In fact, in my humble opinion, the Indian film industry will find it difficult to fill the void that has been left with his passing away, specially when it comes to Classical singing. I should also mention here that Bengali music has also been left deprived. To sum it up one can just say Coffee Houser sei adda ta aaj aar nei kothaye hariye gelo sonali bikel gulo sei. #RIP #MannaDey
