Prague City Museum The building in Florenc was built specifically for the Royal Museum of Prague from 1896 to 1898 in Neo-Renaissance style designed by architect Antonin Balšánek. The museum covers historic Prague with history of the city and its inhabitants from prehistoric times. Among the exhibits include: LANGWEILS MODEL OF PRAGUE: On an area of approximately 20 sq. metres, the historical centre of Prague is represented in detail in the form it had 150 years ago, which means that it includes hundreds of houses of the former Jewish Town and Old Town that have been demolished. More than two thousand buildings are rendered by this coloured model on the scale of 1:480 with all details of façade decorations and minutiae of yards, gardens and utility buildings inside the housing blocks and on the adjoining land. The author of the model was an employee of the University library Antonín Langweil (1791-1837).
