Prairies Saturday, 09 August 2014 11:21 After two months of almost complete blindness, Dom Marcel Carbotte, Abbot of the monastery of N.-D. des Prairies (diocese of Saint Boniface, Canada) since 1969, presented his resignation to the Abbot General. With the consent of his Council, the Abbot General accepted the resignation which became effective on May 31, 2014. Dom Marcel has recovered his sight. On August 7, 2014, Dom André Barbeau, Abbot of the monastery of Val Notre-Dame and Father Immediate of the monastery of Prairies, at the conclusion of the Visitation, after consulting the brothers, named Dom Marcel Carbotte Superior ad nutum.
